Maybe you've tried to rename Recycle Bin icon on your desktop, but if you right click on the icon there will be no option to rename Recycle Bin icon. To change its name, we'll try to tweak Windows Registry safely. I recommend you to back-up your system or registry before starting.
Rename Recycle Bin Windows XP/7
The following are ways to rename Recycle Bin in Windows:
1. Go to Run, by Click start> click run Windows or press R on your keyboard.
2. Type regedit and then click OK.
3. Once the registry editor window appears, locate the following directory:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ ShellNoRoam \ MUICache
4. Then please click MUICache and find the key with the following names:
@ C: \ WINDOWS \ system32 \ shell32.dll, -8964
It's located on the right pane. after the meet please click 2 times.
5. Then a new window will appear, change the contents of the Value Data to your liking. The contents of the Value Data is a name which is located in the Recycle Bin on the Desktop and Windows Explorer on your computer. For example, you will rename Recycle Bin to "Trash" and then do not forget to click OK.
Please restart your computer to see it change. This is in addition to rename Recycle Bin on the desktop, but it also can be used to rename Windows Explorer on your computer.
Rename Recycle Bin Windows 7
If you already use an operating system Windows 7, how to rename Recycle Bin is very easy. You simply point the cursor to the icon of the Recycle Bin on the Desktop then right click > select Rename and please rename it to your liking.
